Hosted by
Bianca Chen

Contest Overview

“Speak Out” is a multidisciplinary art competition aimed to provide a platform for high school students to voice their beliefs and concerns about ongoing social issues, utilizing different mediums of art as tools to advocate for what matters to them. Through the creative combination of different art forms and the powerful voices of the youth, we believe that the artwork created regarding these issues will help spread awareness and inspire positive change to these societal concerns.

2025 Theme: Is the Art Market Ruining Art?

As we progress into the era of contemporary art, there is often a blurry line distinguishing what is considered “art”. The question of whether the art industry has turned into a field that is increasingly prioritizing profit over artistic expression has become a topic of debate among the art community. There have been multiple artists like Andy Warhol, Marizio Cattelan who questions the role of consumerism and through their art, critiques how the focus on monetary value and striving to please the public takes away from creativity. But on the other hand, the art market is at the core of the mechanism of the field of art, funding the financial needs that allows artists to continue creating art. What is your view?
